
The Allied Health Professionals program at SCVTS is centered on the philosophy that total health encompasses an individual’s mind, body, and spirit. Classrooms and instructional styles are designed to use the latest in state-of-the-art technology and equipment, which provides continuous technology in education.
Currently, Salem County Vocational and Technical Schools will be offering two summer certification programs, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Phlebotomy.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician
Phlebotomy Technicians are skilled in collection, handling, transporting, and processing blood specimens. The practice of phlebotomy includes safety precautions taken to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases. Phlebotomists are also instructed to adhere to strict policies and procedures to ensure the safety and care of all patients. Phlebotomists may work in hospital/commercial laboratories, clinics, medical offices, blood banks and occasionally in scientific or product development research.
This program includes classroom instruction and laboratory practice on artificial arms plus required clinical experiences at Salem Memorial Hospital and affiliated offices. Students will be prepared to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians required to be a Certified Phlebotomist. This examination includes both written and hands-on demonstration of skills.
Prerequisites:Students must have a recent physical, Mantoux (PPD Test), proof of Hepatitis B vaccination, and a criminal history background check.
Tuition: $875.00*

Certified Nursing Assistant (in a long-term care facility)
Nursing Assistant students will be introduced to the healthcare field and bedside patient care techniques. Students will be exposed to anatomy and physiology, medical ethics, and patient care skills prior to entering clinical rotations in a local healthcare facility.
This program will prepare students to take the New Jersey Examination for Nursing Assistant in Long-Term Care Facilities. This examination includes both written and hands-on demonstrations. This course requires 50 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of clinical rotations. Clinical rotations will be hosted at Friends Village at Woodstown.
